I think you've really managed to articulate why this is giving me so much trouble, because I agree with pretty much all of this. Patience is a continual learning process for me, because I always want to dash on to the next exciting thing. It may also be that I'm conflating "achieving NaNo" with "finishing story," even though 50K arrived well before the end of the story.

Well, stranger things have happened in two weeks. Fortitude, self!
